Surprised, not so much.

I have been surprised multiple times today. So much that I have had to take out time to put it in writing because I didn’t want to lose the essence of this feeling that is with me since last night. It feels as if I am on a constant high since the two beers I had last night. By the way, I rarely drink more than one 50 cl each night when I am in Dubai.

I am surprised by the amount of energy I am showing of late at work. Taking back to back flights for work, working tirelessly, getting responsibilities like never before and ending up getting things done, one way or another. Future has never looked busier, if not better. Continue reading

On The Rocks!

The word ‘Magic’ can be associated with very few things in the world. The things that you look forward to all the time because when you did it for the first time, it was magical. For example, first kisses are always magical, first hugs as well, if done properly.

In 1999, I was thirteen years old when I had my first magical experience. I was spending summer vacations at Grandpa’s home in a village near Indo-Pak Border in Rajouri sector. The trip was magical and life altering in many ways. Continue reading

The Good Love

It is impossible for anyone to forget their first kiss, no matter how bad it was. Equally impossible is to forget the first touch of the opposite sex, the first hug, the first shared meal they had, the first movie they saw together, the first time they tried to have sex, the first time they actually had sex. These are all memories one attains for life, and memories, over the course of time, get transformed into lessons. Continue reading

Hope

Twenty four years is a long time. One doesn’t get born and grow up to be twenty four years old. It takes five stable governments in India, five five year plans, five green revolutions, two hundred and sixty four months. Just think of how much and what could happen during that time. So many people die before getting to that age. So many people fall in and out of love and stop trusting in the magic of love before they get that old. College gets over, even university in some cases, people start to work and fall into a routine that will eat up thirty four precious years of their lives. Continue reading

Time

Have you ever wondered about the design of time? Well, I have.

It exists as naturally as the constant vibration of the cosmos, and as artificially as the tick of the second hand of a wall clock. The passage of time reflects in everyday life as effortlessly as breathing. Time serves the same purpose to existence as oxygen serves to life on earth. None can survive without either. A thinking mind knows no limitations when it comes to imagination, so let us stop using logic for a little while and play the game of imagination. Continue reading

Kiss of Love

Marriages are tough to manage and if it is an Indian marriage, God be with you. Aniket was looking for his one chance since morning to kiss Kaajal whereas she had kept herself busy with something or the other, and necessarily so. Managing the wedding of your younger sister is no small task. Each and every relative has to be given the highest level of importance or else the taunts shall be made at the poor wedding planning for at least a decade. In some cases, those were the kids of the couple getting married who grew up enough to tell the grown-ups to stop acting childish. Kaajal didn’t want to be blamed for anything. She was making sure every guest was well fed because, logically, that is what Indian weddings are all about. Continue reading

420 Minutes

Sundays had rebelled from being an epitome of togetherness. The thought of spending a Sunday alone dreaded Javed so much that even on Saturdays, which were half days at work for him, he would sit in his office till six, waiting for Roohneet to finish her work and meet him up on her way back to her home.

They were together from more than two years, and yet they were continuously discovering each other’s angels and devils. The relationship had had its share of howls and grunts to make them habitual of each other’s ability of loving and hurting each other at times. Continue reading

Why I Do What I Do

How do you feel when people advise you?Restart

There are three kinds of people in this world.

Firstly, there are those who hear the advising person uttering just one word. Bla.

Secondly, there are those who actually hear what the advising person is saying and feel that he is making a lot of sense.

Thirdly, there are those who hear an advice, ponder about it and finally make up their mind to change the stupid idiotic kind of lives they are living. Continue reading

Fruits & Seeds

A dozen bananas, five chickoos, three guavas, two boxes of strawberries, two pomegranates, one huge canary melon and lots of grapes. This is my menu for today.

Over the last few months, I have spent more money on fruits than on anything else. I have delayed holiday trips, I have avoided eat outs, I have avoided movies, I have avoided summer shopping, I have avoided spending on books but I have not been able to avoid spending on fruits. Moreover, I have begun to dislike the regular spicy food and I have fallen in love with the natural sweetness and nourishment of the fruits.

Has it helped me? Yes! Continue reading

Valentine Lost

“Doesn’t she look like Aishwarya Rai?” I said to Rajan.

She was gorgeous. I have always had this habit of falling in love with beautiful things, words, people and I fell for her on the first day I saw her. It was the first day of the sixth standard in school, back in 1996. The teacher was getting along with the introductions of the newly admitted students and she was one of them. I was waiting for her turn desperately, dying to know her name, looking for an excuse to ask her a question about her earlier school, or where she lived, or her hobbies, anything! Continue reading
