God of Sparrows

Summer of April is always better than the summer of May and the latter is always better than summer of June. Summer of July is worst, it burns the synthetic fabric which then melts and gets stuck to the vest and leave its colour there, like a stamp of authority, as if the vest belongs to the shirt, as if the shirt forgets who’s its master for a while in the heat of the sun.

There’s a reason why cotton is costlier than synthetic, it minds its own business, doesn’t interfere in anyone else’s business, doesn’t get attached to any other fabric. Cotton is the buddha of the fabric universe. Continue reading

The Roommate Chronicles – Latest Roomie

What pisses me off the most is when people do not do their designated work. If someone so loves to stand out of the system, one should act like a rebel. Rebels I love, lazy asses I hate to the core of my heart. All sorts of weird things have happened with me in the last few days. Yes, there is a certain limit after which you just cannot control the good or bad from happening, but there has to be a certain limit defined to stop the bullshit as well. I love the place where I live and I love the place where I work for a common reason: the degree of silence is pretty high at both the places. I can hear ants crawling in my room and I can listen to what is happening at the ground floor from my office at the first floor. I am a peace lover, well physically. Mentally, I am in a rush all the time. Continue reading

To Be, Or Not To Be

“I hate long flights.”

“I’m sorry!”

“Long flights! I hate them. One has got nothing to do other than eating, sleeping and watching movies.”

“One can have a good conversation.”

“I don’t think so. Two people cannot converse on a single topic for a long time.”

“But two people can converse on several topics.”

“For example?”

“For a start, we can talk about you!” Continue reading

A Headless Life

“Mom! There is a cockroach in my room!” Radhika shouted while dropping her school bag on the floor and running out of the room.

“Cockroaches aren’t dangerous, they just look like they are.” Vivek, Radhika’s younger brother, informed her.

“No way! Cockroaches are weird and their moustaches are so dreadful! I’m not going inside the room until that cockroach is removed.” Radhika declared. Continue reading

Rock Star

By AmanChawla

30th November, 2011, Janakpuri District Centre, Delhi, About 4’o clock in the evening.

“Jo bhi main, kehna chaahun, barbaad karein alfaaz mere… oh yaye…. oo yeahyeahye…” is what I was repeatedly humming while stepping out of Satyam Cineplex. The lines of this very special song from the movie ‘Rockstar’ were struck in my mind so adhesively that I just couldn’t resist singing it over and over again. The show had just finished and the song had its everlasting effect induced in me.

“Maine yehi socha hai aksar, tu bhi main bhi sabhi hain sheeshe, khud hi ko hum sabhi mein dekhe, juda hue to…” before I could apply that high note, my shoulder was tapped by someone. I knew who it was, none other than Gurdeep, my buddy whom I had left behind while singing the heavenly tunes of Rahman Saab while walking out of the cinema. Continue reading
